Ill keep it simple
« on: 24 February 2011, 16:58 »

every morning for the past week or so my mk3 gti 8v sounds like it is running on 3 cylinders for 2 miles or so then it runs sweet as. idles fine as i cleaned the throttle body out last year. It only does this in the morning when its been left all night, but not when i start it after work in the evening(even though it been stood 12 hours).

Any advice greatly recieved.

Try flushing the engine oil and putting some decent quality new oil in.

could try that i suppose but it was only done back in Oct. Really strange how it just does it in the morning and not in the evening after work.

Might get someone to scan it for fault codes

Sounds like coilpack. In the morning, after a night of dampness and cold the coil refuses to work properly, then during the day after the engine has run and burnt off any moisture it starts fine.

appreciate the advice, i think it is a damp issue somewhere along the lines and ill check it out later. Done the usual checks on relays and checked breather pipes for leaks etc and all seems ok.

thanks again
