The trouble is, you either like the Audis efficient way of putting the torque down, no drama, no fuss...but the drive is dull as dishwater...
Or you like the chassis of the Golf, and the constant fight with wheelspin/throttle angle.
The two cannot exist together is seems.
Personally, I don't like the current A3/S3 enough to want one (I had an 8L S3 so I'm not anti-Audi) and although the interior is great in the Audi, I feel the bits that matter on the Mk6 GTRI, are better...seats, steering feel, pedal feel etc.
I miss the traction of quattro...I'd be fibbing if I said I didn't...but do I wish I'd bought an A3/S3 over my GTI? Nope...not once...the GTI is to me, a better car.
