Accelerator Cable change on VR6
« on: 22 February 2011, 18:59 »
Today on my way back to work the accelerator cable on my VR decided to snap about an inch from the end of the throttle body linkage. Ordered my new one from the stealers and have to collect it tomorrow morning. Had a quick look lunchtime and saw that it runs under the plastic cover alongwith the HT leads and then swings round and goes through the bulkhead on the passenger side. Looks easy enough but was just wandering if anyone has done one and is there anything I need to look out for and any tips ??  Also how does it connect to the pedal as I never got chance to look at this as I had to get back to work. I have changed a clutch pedal and am presuming it will be the same....or am I wrong ??

Yep the same really as replacing the clutch cable, main thing is adjusting it, once you have fitted it, get someone to hold the throttle full open (engine off of course) and make sure your getting full travel.
