its not that hard actually.  Unbolt the front suspension mount and support the engine on a jack - then from memory you can get at the sensor to change it.
You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

Great I ordered the wrong part!! I ordered the knock sensor. I looked on ECS and i could not find the Crank speed sensor for my 97 VW Golf GTI 2.0, the only thing that i could find was the Reference Sensor, http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-Golf_III--2.0/Search/Crank_Speed_Sensor/ES251772/

is that the same part?? Is there a DIY for replacing the Crank speed sensor? Can someone post a link of where I can order the part from?
