Wouldnt the car tax be horrific on an R?

The annual company car tax liability on a Golf R (2011/2012) is £1,775.60 for a standard rate tax payer,  £3,551.20 at the 40% tax rate. Not so bad really.

Really? my p60 says: car benefit -£9757!!!!! Why would that be? Am I due a rebate?

That's the benefit you pay tax on. The 'liability' is what you actually pay in tax, per annum.
