Quick build week question...
« on: 03 February 2011, 09:29 »
I had a phone call from the dealership yesterday to let me know what the build week for my order was but I missed it and she sent me this random screen capture off her computer instead.... with no explanation.  Tried calling her again but she's out for the rest of the week and I'm off on holiday this afternoon.  Can anybody enlighten me as to what it might be or is it staring me in the face?

I'm only guessing, but I read that as being scheduled for production in week 20 of 2011 (the field of 201120). Other fields show targetted for a Grimsby Port delivery.

sssh; it's 'only a diesel'; but i love it!

Hmm... good, that's what I thought.  The word 'current' was a bit misleading.  I assume the actual 'current' build week as of today is actually 5 then.  So much for an early April delivery then!

guessing that it's 'currently' in their week 20 production schedule. I imagine they don't 'absolutely fix' them that far in advance; hence use of 'current.'

For info: when I got mine in 2009; it was built considerably earlier than dealer originally expected (I know; I was lucky) and I think their system can move build weeks around to form suitable model batches etc which can result in alteration to that build week no. This is partly dependent upon what options you've selected and what's available, or running late, from their component suppliers. They need to try and support the 'just in time' production method as far as possible, so it makes sense for them to align similar vehicles in their calendar. At least; this is what my dealer told me when I was shown similar screen (but it was in 09 mind; so my memory could be a little vague).

There are folk on here who work in Dealers; so hopefully one of them will confirm / correct me as necessary.

Whatever the wait though; you'll enjoy it in the end (i.e don't pay too much attention to the extent of 'unhappy posts' on here or other forums as it tends to provide skewed view. Although I know some folk have had a few issues and some of those are significant; in my experience, and another 6 owner I know; we have not suffered the vast majority of the 'issues' some have). That 140 tdi is lovely engine too......

sssh; it's 'only a diesel'; but i love it!

When did you order the car?

I work for vw as people on here know and would expect 5/6 month lead time on any fresh golf order. Huge demand for match trim and components. To the point that they have simply run out of rcd 510 dab radios, for example any new tiguan match orders won't have dab in them as they can't supply the head units for the cars.

Also you have ordered it in a rare colour for golf with a few very rare options on it like acc.........

Thanks for the info. I ordered the car on December 28th so what you're saying fits. Guess i'll just have to be patient. Oh right didn't realise Shadow Bue was rare...
