electric window help
« on: 04 February 2011, 20:49 »
ok just went to a mates house in my car and put drivers side elec window all the way down to have fag on way there and it wont go back up

wile i was playing to try and get it working i noticed that when drivers door open the passenger window didnt work but when drivers door closed it did.

pulled the rubber wire cover back that goes between drivers door and car and noticed the main brown earth wire was split and was making contact when door closed and breaking contact when door open.
so put wire back together and passenger window works all the time now but drivers window is still stuck all the way down.

i have noticed that when i press the button there isnt any sound from motor not even a click.

do you think its likely that the switch has burnt out?

Ok just took door apart fiddled with everything. Checked all fuses.
Nothing worked.
Then I decided to unplug the huge plug that goes from door to car and plugged it back it and it all works again now. Result
Just another mystery golf fault lol
