Any aluminium parts have to be etch primed, prior to normal priming and painting, to do the job without etch, would lead to the paint flaking off

Etch primer chemically bonds to (in this case) Aluminium using an acid base, without it, any other paint will eventually flake off aluminium
So, if you were to paint your inlet manifold, lets say Matt Black, you would need.. assuming that you would be getting aerosols from Halfords
1 acid etch primer aerosol
1 acrylic primer aerosol
1 matt black aerosol, or any colour you like, (you may also need aerosol of lacquer if the colour is a basecoat)
and applied to the manifold in that order
