Headlight Beam - Blind/black spot
« on: 27 January 2011, 21:19 »
Hello All MkVI owners

On my VI GTD, i have adjusted the dipped beam level upwards to reach forwards up the road a little more as i thought they were too low for normal 60mph night driving distance.
Anyway, when i have the main beam on -there is a section of beam on the road between where the dipped lights shine, and the main beam starts.

This was also there before i adjusted the lights, and i wonder if any of you have this same issue or know if the main beam can be adjusted separately?

Cheers

I find the main beam is useless on my golf, it simply seems to illuminate treetops :-(

The dipped beam isn't much better....

Get the dealer to check your beam height as its not unknown to come from the factory set wrong.

Hi All, thanks for replies.

To The Doc - Yes Main-beam looks for the stars !, but dipped was too low i found for 60 mph driving, so i adjusted it upwards at the front with an allen key, leaving it with some in-car adjustment if people start flashing me !

Snoopy, I think the dipped is right now, but will have to check with the Dealer if the main can be tweaked, its okay up lanes with hedgerows, but rubbish on main roads with nothing to reflect off, and it certainly does not illuminate the road - to the point that i forget the main beam is on sometimes - its that cr*p ! :-)
