Revo Trial Software
« on: 31 January 2011, 09:49 »
Hi guys, posted this here instead of the tuning section as my question is specific to the MK6 community.

Have any of you taken up Revo on their trial ECU mod software?  If so or not your thoughts or comments are appreciated.

Cheers,

Jim

I just went straight for the map. Dont think it reverts back to OEM standard map, its their "OEM" version.

Oh, I don't like the sound of that!

Bluefin sounds more and more appealing as a solution for me or the VWR solution I've been adding about this weekend.

Thanks mate,

Jim

I originally was tempted by Revo because their headline figures were more impressive than Superchips but there are now two strong reasons why I would go for Superchips.

Firstly some people I have spoken to who have Revo have not been getting the figures Revo quoted. In reality I sometimes run my car on 95 octane (oooh shoot me I know) and mostly on 97 octane. Revo's headline figures are quoted on 99 octane I believe. I suppose if you run your car on 99 octane all the time it would match up but I don't always pass a Tesco Petrol station.

Secondly I don't like the news that Revo don't supply your original map but instead their version of stock. I think the Superchips, in offering your original map on the handset, retains a greater degree of security and flexibility come inspection (whether by garage for a service, insurance in case of event or even with the proposed new MOT emissions testing).

Also with the prices of each tuner and handset there's not much in it as far as I can remember.

Is that the one with the crazy power? If it is IMO it's too much, I've mentioned before about the 350 bhp RS I took out, it was too brutal and that had a very trick front diff to handle the massive power

I want more but not too much, i want an increase in ower but not at the expense of everyday use.

No its REVO that mention high BHP figures. If I were to get a map again, it would be APR for sure  Bluefin is too tame and gay

I too like the idea of your map being retained in the handset.  I'm going to do some more investigations.

Cheers,
