16v starter motor
« on: 24 January 2011, 21:52 »
Hi guys and girls. The starter motor on my anni is starting to go. Iam looking for a new one but trying to find a 16v one is rather hard. Is there any difference between the 16v, 8v or vr6 starter motors?

Cheers

Yes, you need a 16v starter motor as it has a different amount of teet (either 1 more or 1 less I can't remember).

been looking and majority of the time when starter motors go its the bushes. i can get these from GSF for £1 are these easy to fit as i have found a starter motor and got a big shock at how much £123 more than double the price of the 8v and vr6 starter motors.

Find a starter motor suitable for your engine from a car being broken. I recently bought one for £20 I think it was.

Plenty, however I don't know the names or the good ones. Check here and on ebay though, something always pops up

you can also use 4 pot manual b3/b4 passat, corrado and golf g60 starters. trouble is though your trigger plug wont fit so you need to make up a short adaptor loom.  better than being stuck with a non-starting car though!
