Steering feels like there is too much lock?
« on: 17 January 2011, 20:30 »
Right this has been bugging me for a while now.
Car is a 1.8Driver
New top mounts
coilovers LOWERED ABOUT 80-90MM
new track rod ends and tie rods.
new wishbones
all good bushes up front.
On 17's

when turning the wheel to near full lock it seems to go just a little bit too far,it sort of eases up on the tension or turns a little bit easier just before i get to full lock.(if that makes sense)
It also squeals when going round a corner relativley slowly

It doesnt catch but it just doesnt feel right. :nerd:

Is this just a case of tracking and camber wanting setting up correctly?Cars sorn atm while im working on it so cant just pop down and get it fixed.

Does this sound like the problem or am i missing something?

Cheers

Yep could well be down to the tracking being out.

Well tbh the suspension has been on and off more times than Jordans knickers so hopefully this will be the cause.4 wheel alignment it is then.

Yep the boots could cause it, but my guess would be the alignment. If the wheels are toeing out too much (front of the wheels facing more outwards than the back) then when youre on full lock the wheels will actually be turned further than they should be. Also putting excess pressure on your power steering pump (if fitted) causing the noise maybe??
Hope this helps!
