as the subject says...
can anyone tell me where they are? as i think my car has a bad earth connection due to the rough idle and the electrics causing the dashboard illumination to flicker and dim every so often!

It can, i would scan it with vagcom and see if there are any code's also have you cleaned the throttle body?, the dizzy cap may also have damp inside give it a good clean and some wd40, possibe coil or relay's.

Mines a vr6 i dont htink it has a dizzy cap just a coil pack, ive checked the coil pack for sparking or cracks by sprayign a mist over it,
basically i can only describe the car feeling like an old beetle which i have been in and thats what i can compare it to and plus the performance too.. it comes back to normal asthough everything is fine then it will go back to running like a beetle lol.. sometimes ive took the car out and its driven fine just a few splutters it just comes on out of no where. the MPG is roughly 21 and that is rubbish for a vr and is obvious that somethin isnt right.
ive sprayed the throttle body with carb cleaner it was pretty dirty got my toothbrush in there and it came out black gave it a once over and still runs like poop...

I did not realise it was a vr, i would scan it for code's, and clean the earth's.

some ECU earth's are on the front of the engine block (8v). Worth doing, remove, clean up with sandpaper and electrical cleaner and re-attach...

I hate people that do that. Then the rest of us get your used (and poss broken) parts.

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.
