Mk3 gti 8v Starting and lumpy running problem
« on: 15 January 2011, 09:37 »

Hi all

started to have a problem with my 8v the last last couple of days, when the car was cold, accelerating out of gears started to be a bit lumpy then went away as it warmed up and drove normaly

Then yesterday it decided not to start for a few minutes then did the same again in being lumpy when accelerating but being normal when it warmed up.

guess you probly get this one all the time but just wondering if anyone has any clues to what it could be?

going to change the plugs and leads today to see if that cures it

any help greatly appreciated

Plugs and leads is a good first port of call, a bit of damp in the system maybe by what you say..
If that doesn't cure your problem then perhaps dizzy cap/rotor..fuel/ecu relays, water temp sensor, clogged throttle body internal, blocked engine breathers, could even be other sensors/senders like hall and crank but it's all guessing really from here, could even be dodgy fuel..
Anyways see how you go, one thing at a time and at least your eliminating less expensive obvious things as you go..

How's that    hope it helps..
