Lights
« on: 18 February 2005, 11:47 »
Anyone any idea what controls the interior light coming on when the doors open? All my doors turn on the interior light except the front passenger door. The small red / white light on the passanger door is also not working. Usually there's a pop out plastic piece that come out when the door opens but I can't find anything like this on the golf. Any ideas people?

there's a switch on the door that turns the interior light on. if your red light isn't working I'll guess wires are broken in the edge of the door where it pivots.

Thanks for the post but I've looked for some kind of switch on the door but call me blind as I can't see one. Is it visable?

The switch is actually in the door locking mechanism NOT the door frame! If you open the door, and shove a screwdriver into the catch thing (where the U shaped hook which is in the frame locks onto), then you can get the door light to come on and off. I would suggest you do this on the working door first to make sure you know what position the lock has to be in.

You will need *probably* (highly likely) need to take the interior door panel off, then have a poke around to find any loose wires (which is most likely)

hope this helps

have a nice day

Ive got some cool multi coloured led bulb that fades from one colour to another in my interior light and the reading lights are a blue/white led light, looks more like a nightclub inside my car!!

This is for a pack of 10 tho, he hasnt relisted the single bulb i bought of him for ?2.99, but send him a message and see what he says?

The bulb i got is slighly a bit short but i bend the pins slightly in the interior light and i got the bulb to work.

Its wicked!?

no worries, before you start taking the panel off, makes some dirt hasn't got into the mechanism by squirting penetrating oil into the mechanism. Make sure your window is up first!
