I see what your saying and agree but do you not think driving a car in a spirited way that revs high and fast is more enjoyable than changing gear every 2 seconds when you reach 4k?
Im not trying to say diesels are sh!t, far from it. From a motoring and driving experience point of view petrol is simply better. The only reason anyone has a diesel is because they want better MPG. Why have a 170 GTD diesel when you can have a more powerful, better sounding 210 2.0T petrol in the GTI? Because you want 45MPG. Simples.
I'm inclined to agree with this. Though mpg figures in the new GTI aren't bad for what you get tbh
