possible rocker cover failiure

i have a 1.6 driver, and ive found oil running down onto the exhaust manifold, and smoking.
im guessing its coming from a worn rocker cover gasket?

Sounds like it yes, easy enough to replace.

Yer sounds like it is mate, bought one from gsf for..........£3 so i wouldnt worry. Just make sure you put everything back to where it came from

already got a full gasket kit. also. can anyone think of where any oil might be sitting? as i have smoke coming from under the exhaust manifold somewhere, from an oil leak the orher day and want to clean it up.

Its often easier to spot where oil is comming from if you get under the engine rather than on top

The oil will undoubtedly be absorbed slightly into all of the accummulated crap on the outside of the engine as well, so short of gunking the engine and steaming it off, it will continue to smoke until it has burnt off.

Just keep an eye on it. Worst case, get a wire brush and do to work on the engine block giving it a clean up.

cheers guys. do you know what colour oil pressure switch a 1.6 carb enging should have. do GTI's have grey ones?

Use a mk3 rubber gasket. Much better than the Mk2 one. It should come with the correct studs.

Pressure Washer... just cover the dizzy and plugs
