Secondary air pump
« on: 06 January 2011, 16:58 »
Over the past few days when I first start my car it sounded abit louder than normal then it would go back to normal after a minute or so. Had a lil look round when I next started the car and it sounds like it's coming from the secondary air pump.

I've read on here that they can sometimes mess up how easy are they to fix?

Cheers guys

The rivets that seal the pump fail and so the unit splits open. The noise is the air escaping through the split. If you do a search there are threads with a link to a mod to re-seal it. The mod is basically replacing the soft rivets for nut and bolts to re-seal the pump...
