wooopsie daisy!!!
« on: 04 January 2011, 21:31 »
Well, driving home from work today the car felt proper sluggish. (8v but worse still!!) Anyway, after picking the little un up, the car cut out. After a few minutes of restarting, then giving it some revs and it cutting out again, I managed to pull away. Happened all the way home, with a near miss when it did it on a roundabout and the PAS failing!, and some shifting down and gunning it, I managed to get home. Friggin thing I was thinking, always something wrong with this bar steward car! Anyway, after looking through the search menus on here for posts of similar problems, I thought it may be my MAF sensor. This went a couple of months back, but after spraying it with contact cleaner, problem solved at the time. I had bought a used one just in case at the time, so armed with my miners lamp, I set about changing it. I undid the screws, and the whole thing came off in my hands! I have been playing around with my airbox lately and disconnecting the inlet pipe at that end before folding it out of the way. The spring clip had worked itself off of the throttle body, and was sucking in hot, dirty air! Oops! Well I changed the MAF anyway, and put it all back on, and jobs a good un! Just thought I would post it as a lesson to all of you!! Hopefully no damage has been done as it was only a few miles without filtration though! LOL
