I hope you’ll be pleased to hear that the Mk6 Golf GTI is the highest rated hot hatch on a site we’ve just launched.

Carbuzz has a unique independent scoring system based on aggregated expert reviews.The score for each new car is based on the average reviews given to it by UK magazines and journalists. This rating, called the buzzScore, independently shows how highly rated, or not, each new car is.

The GTI has an outstanding buzzScore of 9.3, which is the kind of score that only supercars normally get! Interestingly it actually gets slightly better reviews than the Golf R, which gets a lower buzzScore of 7.8. The GTI is quite comfortably the best hot hatch too, with only the Focus RS getting a score close to it (it got 9.1).

I'd be really interested to see if your readers agree with what the experts have said in their reviews. It would also be much appreciated if any of them posted a review of their car, we will soon be showing the average user scores as well, it’ll be fascinating to see how these compare to the reviews of the experts.

We've had a great reception from some mainstream media, but we really want to get the site to the attention of true car enthusiasts, if you could somehow show this to your members it would be much appreciated!

Yeah as you said it just confirms what we all knew, GTI knocks spots of the R

Im not sure I agree with it knocking the socks off the R. It was similar when the R32 was out... the GTI was rated as better, where as in reality it is just better value.

Although the GTI is expensive it is just about within a reasonable price range to compare with other hothatches where as the R is seen as well overpriced.

Like the title of the thread too, we kinda get bored of reading so many glowing reviews of the GTI, and it being the benchmark hot hatch.

Anyone test drive the R with an aim to buying one then end up going for the GTI instead?
