Some Vent Advice pls
« on: 24 February 2005, 15:43 »
Hi everyone, im a newbie to this site this is my first post and i need some opinions, 2 nights ago some thoughtful t**t decided it might be fun to pour some paint stripper/brake fluid onto my car bonnet leavin it a right mess so i thought i may as well get a nice vent put on seen as though it all needs respraying, i dont want anything too over the top and have pretty much narrowed it down to 2, the new evo 8 vent or the older evo style vent with the 2 cutouts, has anyone got either of these on their golfs so i can see what they look like??  :undecided: .its a Mk 3 golf GTi by the way and ive got a limited budget!!

Vents are nasty, if you really have to do something other than a straight forward re-paint... put the money you would've spent on a vent into a "bad-boy" bonnet. Not to everyones taste.. but i think they suit the mk3

I've got a nasty feeling you won't get paint to stick to that bonnet now it's had brake fluid poured on it...

my personal opinion on vents are that if you dont need it, dont do it. looks tacky i think.

if the bonnet is gonna be resprayed, then a layer of paint is gonna have to be taken back anyway, if not to bare metal,so it can be primed first, so the brake fluid/paint stripper would be removed anyway
