You can diagnose the hall sender without the car being dead, just have a look at the link I posted.

Cheers Ben..I have read your write up and im going out with multi meter to check a few things tomorrow. The car is now dead!! Started then dies after a few minutes and now wont fire. Noticed that pump wasnt priming so shorted the large pins on relay and pump run for a while now the pump wot turn even with the pins shorted. Fed a wire from a live conection into one of pins on relay but still no pump action. Sometimes I will turn key and pump will run but car wont start then when I try it again the pump is dead.Put it up for sale as spares now cos ive had enough. Let me down when I needed it most xmas day and im sick of it, spent most of xmas afternoon trying to fix it with no joy..

Pumps not priming, no power to pump inside boot. Voltmeter on middle pin on hall sender and no voltage shown. Tried it with and without the dizzy lead earthed (read somewhere maybe manual that on digifants the earth dizzy lead had to be earthed) Also have no rev counter now and clocks gone mental but that maybe cos I dissconected battery.
