Starting problems had enough now!!
« on: 05 December 2010, 14:30 »
this is my first post so here goes...I have a 89 16v gti with a 2litre 6a bottom end. I have always had problems starting it takes ages to start, will just turn over loads before actually starting. I have changed the complete fuel pump to one i was told worked fine still no change. Have checked the drop pump in the tank all is fine. 5th Injector is ok and the fuel pressure regulator has been changed. Is there anything else that could be causing this as i'm at breaking point!!!!? Also anyone got any 272 cams for sale? :D

think at this point you will need to get your fuel pressures checked :(

quick thing to try, first disconnect plug to 5th injector and try, then if no help try disconnecting the plug to the wur.  have you checked the 3 sensors on the side of the head?  clean em up and try swapping the wires round. the red/yel wire is for the dash so can use this to check if the other 2 sensors are reading roughly the same. also make sure all 3 are black ones, if any are a different colour they're the wrong rating.

idle & co worth getting checked if everything else checks out
