celtic tuning are they good or bad?

Hi all firstly I want to introduce myself, as I am new today Im Lewis from Oxfordshire.
I have a 1.8T Yreg 150bhp mk 4 golf ive had it for about a month and spent so far about 2 grand modding it, with bbs ch wheels and audio system and sub.  I purchased a "emotion plug and play kit" from Celtic tuning.... it took it the standard 150bhp to a whopping 213. and put an extra 100 pounds worth of torque.  The car has done 58k thousand miles.  The tune worked well for at least 10 minutes and then something went wrong... it went down to 3 cylinders!! so i took it home and had a look on google located the problem to being a coil pack, how often do they need to be replaced? are the standard vw ones any good or could u get better? has anyone else used celtic tuning? without problems???

99/100 the problem will not be with the tuner who provided the map.  Issues lie solely with the car.  A remap puts a lot of extra stress on the engine and if any part is weak, with a remap it will become much more apparent.  As soon as something goes wrong after a remap people are often quick to blame the map whereas they should be looking at the car and themselves and the maintenance performed

Generally coil packs last a long time and the VW ones are up to the job.  Might be worth buying a spare to keep in the glovebox should it happen at an inconvenient time i.e middle of a Sunday afternoon when the dealers are closed

As someone in this trade, I am quite careful never to knock someone elses work.

And in this instance, actually I would have to say that Celtic are one of the very few that I actually respect and rate as amongst the best out there.

I wouldn't use any 'plug and play' box however.  You can't beat a proper remap installed on your ECU.

Good, but only as good as the car the maps going on to.

Poor car with undiagnosed faults then the remap will seem poor quality, they should explain what issues a remap can cause such as if there are old coil packs in the car then there is a good chance they will fail.
