Un-f**king-believeable!

Get on the phone to the dealer principal, VW UK and trading standards (or whatever they are called these days!). Totally, totally unacceptable behaviour. I'm f**king livid for you.

As others have said just use a specialist at least they have a clue unlike most main dealers.
The service manager is kicking off because HE cocked up and is worried about how he gets in trouble imo. His name approving of the exchange will be on the paperwork, so HE gave you genuine wheels and missed the ones you had were copies. He will be crapping himself as his testicals are probably in a vice right now.
Don't worry about the ban, I was banded by northeast garages and it never caused me any hassle.

Thanks for all the comments - Snoopy I think you have probably hit the nail on the head.

I'm going to complain to VW.  I'll let you know what they say!

Yes complain to VW & ask them to recommend a Main Dealer.

I had my car from "Trust Group" and though I don't have serviced by them (high cost) I would recommend them.

(They coded a RCD510 in place of RCD310  for free)

Always talk to Service Manager first, then go on up!

All the best.
