if your power steering goes ,more so on right turns ,whilst the engine is still running and its raining i would suspect the pas belt,if the same happens when its not raining i would look for coolant dripping onto the belt.,,this is from my own experience.new belt and water pump solved it for me.

happens on left and right turns, its been raining everytime i drive it so dont about when in dry weather.  Also realised when i pick up speed and brake light and make a tight corner the steering loses power and when turned in the steering returns to normal.

mechanic gave it a once over and said the only thing he can spot is that the throttle body needs cleaning everything else is fine. £20 to clean the throttle body?

Check the crank sensor wiring - common ish fault as it (and wiring) is underneath the car.  I.e. if its damaged, in the wet it shorts and cuts the engine.

Mine looked like - http://javalins.wordpress.com/2010/03/13/dodgy-sensor-wiring/

I remember a few cases of this on this forum last winter.

Didn't cut out, but was a PITA to drive.

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.
