« on: 08 February 2005, 21:25 »
vw golf gti mk 3 - since having an engine sensor fitted by a vw garage to cure starting problems i now get a message in my millometer window when i switch the ignition on.It reads ERROR----. When i switch the ignition off the millometer reading returns to show the normal readings. My vw garage want to take another large slice of money off me and suggest they supply and fit a new pod for ?300 +.Help - any thoughts / suggestions greatly appreciated.Have tried resetting the code and disconnecting the battery to no avail.

try a local vw specialist instead of a stealership.
Used to have a '97 MK3 16v GTI 3dr in 'Black Magic'... now have a '55 Civic Type-S...

Have you tried running through the service reminder clearance procedure at the top of the page  ? Where the display says error it might just be the service reminder garbled , as this is normally the time that the comp shows this data .

Yer it was the speed sensor, thanx for the help ill try the clearnce procedure.
The worrying things is that my local stealership said they could not clear it, i dont know if they are bullsh!tting or being lazy. They even broke my steering cowling, dodgy stealership or what
