Re trimming Seats with leather

Ok, So i have been working in a upholstery place, And have got my hands on some black leather,
How hard is it to strip seats of Covers and half leather trim them,
There is a woman at work who will sew them up 4 me, Just wondered if its straightforward
No guts No glory,

Logic would suggest that if you remove all the seat covers and unpick the stitching you then have a template for the leather.

Just cut and sew and Bobs your uncle.

I remember taking the material off the seat back to change a tilt lever cable, and I didnt actually take the cover right off, as there are wires fitted to the cover to pull it into shape over the cushions and keep the tight profile/shape. So you need to fiddle with these to detatch them, and I imagine the base is similar.

So you may end up with a bit of butchery in getting the covers off, and would need to ensure the wires were relocated on refitting to ensure the fabric sits propoerly, rather than being loose and wrinkled.

That said, its not quantum mechanics. It has been done by many before. It just may be a fiddle to get a good finish!

Sweet as a nut!
I've been thinking about doing this myself to be honest. I can't see that it's hard to do. As Elvi said you use the old covers as a template and job's done.

Going to do this myself in the summer. If I can dress make, I can re-trim an interior!
