Door card removal / Window fix
« on: 22 November 2010, 08:45 »
I've read as much as I can on door panel removal and I'm prepping myself to do it (it's bloody cold out there!) any final tips from people have done it?

Also I'm hoping to fix a rattle in there, what commonly rattles? At the moment I'm planning on taking it off and driving down a bumpy road (ie ANY road in Northampton)

Cheers all

Be careful when you prize it off, if it hasnt been on before they can be quite well stuck on and you dont want to snap the actual card! When its off there isnt an awful lot in there so it should be quite obvious what is rattling. Good luck.

Rattling should be some crap or broken bits of the mechanism that have fell in the bottom of the door. The window mechanism is held in place by bolts and clips for the wires etc. If your window is not working I would hazard a guess your mechanism has broke somewhere and the bits have fell into the door. Easy job really to remove doorcard. Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully prise off the door handle cover. Inside this cover will be two screws which need to come out. Unscrew the door lock pin. Then again gently start to pull off the doorcard (start at the bottom corner it's easier). Once the door panel is off then before you pull it away disconnect all the wiring for speakers and electric windows (if applicable). Then the mechanism is easy to see buddy.  Hope this helps
