Heated seat problem on driver side only?
« on: 13 November 2010, 19:58 »
Hi All,

The drivers side heated seat works fine when initially turning on but then seems to just turn itself off after a short time? This is on any heat setting.

Can't really say how long, maybe 5 minutes? Sometimes less? Earlier on, it was approx 2-3 mins before it went off again.

If I turn the dial to 0 then back on again, it works again for a short time...

Passenger side works fine and gets nice and hot! :)

Is this the sign of a faulty element in the drivers side? Or some sort of thermostat inside the seat shutting it down?

If its the element how much is this likely to cost to change over? (or is it part of the seat itself in the MK5?) Or are there any sensors inside the seat that could cause this?

It's an ED30 (Cloth/ Half Leather) Seat so would anyone be kind enough to know the part numbers or provide a diagram to see if there are indeed any sensors inside the seat etc?

Many thanks,

Sean
