As always, too good to be true
« on: 13 November 2010, 17:24 »
I was given, yes given - free- gratis, as set of 4 16" alloys from a Ford Galaxy, the dude told me they had the 5x100 stud pattern and "should fit straight on". Naturally I bit the fella's hand off and took them home to give them a wee try out.
Scunner!!, they dinna fit! Stud pattern is 5x112 and the offset is ET50 (I think). Anyway, when tried on they foul the brake callipers. The centre spiggot is the same. I was half thinking of getting some spacers/ adapters and trying them on again to see what like. They're not bad looking wheels made by Ronal. They need a wee bit of tarting up as there is the usual kerbing etc (and of course the Ford centre badges removed).
What's the thoughts, do I go for wheel spacers/ PCD adapters and stick them on or do I tart them up and make a buck on them? I'll take some photos and post them tomorrow but in the mean time the wheels are these ones.

I like the wheels

If they're ET50 then there is plenty of room for adaptors, so if it were me i'd buy some adaptors and wack them on (as long as your sure the centre bore size is the same)

lol Dan, I always mind it being used on Supergran, the baddie was Scunner Campbell.
That's what I was thinking Dom. I'll give them a good clean and a paint up. Painting wise, not sure what colour to go for. I was humming and hawing about maybe a bit of graphite grey or maybe a wee bitty lighter, maybe something similar to the colour of Kell's D90's. Don't fancy silver again.

This is ma beastie, sorry for the iPhone pics. Only done 72K on a "P" plate. Needs a bit of body work but apart from that, absolutely spot on. Runs like a dream. Also SERIOUSLY needs lowered!!

By the time you buy adaptors they are not worth fitting to be honest.
