There's so much body roll it must be dangerous so GTi shocks and springs are on the cards,

I don't think this is a good idea mate....The GTI engine in any guise is loads heavier than the 1.3 and the shocks and springs are designed with this in mind.....if you can, I would advise getting a proper sports kit for a 1.3

Now seems a good time to ask if anyone has put GTi suspension on a 1.3 and what the outcome has been?

Guessing GTi's have ARBs, would getting my hands on some help at all without touching the suspension?

The kit you described sounds good mate, but expensive and aftermarket are two things I'm trying to avoid, especially this close to christmas and I'd like to keep it all genuine parts if poss.

What about GTi suspension? Set up for a heavier engine or not it's still going to be tons better than 1.3 suspension?

Got an alarm on mine this weekend cos some f*ck broke into it last Tuesday!

Hi-jacking my own thread now in the hope of saving the little 1.3. If anyone knows where I can get a complete cylinder head with good valves give me a shout! Had a cam belt go on me and the whole head wants replacing! Not good and miss it already! Not drive it since Thursday (4th)!!

Not cool!

hav u tried re timing it as im sure these engines were designed with the belt does snap there is enough clearance between the valves and pistons

I'll wait and see what everyone else says mate, but I've found a couple already. Between £55 and £75 though. Step Dad says valves are f*cked so I'm not sure. It was totally gutless as the knocking came on so makes sense valves have gone I guess? Who knows.

I'm clueless really so go by what the step dad says mate.
