Temp Insurance for under 21's?
« on: 12 November 2010, 08:25 »
I could really do with having temp insurance for the next few weeks till i turn 21 so i can then insure with someone decent who only allow over 21's on their policys.

Have been looking around but everwhere seems to be over 21's/24's/25's for temp cover, is there ANYWHERE that will cover me?

Cheers
Jim

I dont know of ANY temporary insurers who offer cover for under 21's im afraid....

Obviously as the premiums are significantly lower for temp insurance, most temorary insurers are very wary of high risk drivers so their acceptance criteria is normally very strict - they wont take drivers under a certain age or certain high risk vehicles etc.

Sorry to thread hijack!

I've got a quick question for you Martin, my dad is looking at getting a small engined mk3 or mk4 golf for my mum to use for work. The only problem would be that my brother (who is 20) would need to be insured during university holidays.

He had a policy with Fortis and they allowed a temporary driver to the policy for upto 90 days per year, this is ideal for their needs. So my question is, firstly do HIC offer any similar policies? If not do you know of any other companies that do?

Cheers!
