Service shopping list
« on: 20 October 2010, 16:05 »
So I need to give the mkii a service as it hasnt had one in a while looking at the service history where it was garaged for a few yrs and think its done 6k since the last one

so was just looking over on eurocar parts at bits and pieces, so was going to change :

oil filter + oil ( any recomended oil to use? )

coolant ( do i need to flush the system and replace with G12 ive got some G12++ in the shed is that ok or a no no)

Spark plugs : bosh ones or upgraded ones? again any brands?

Fuel filter? does this need changing?

Im going to go to a guy who lives by my mate and is a vw mechanic so i go through it with him as im a total novice when it comes to these things and will just feel better goign through it with him!

have i missed anything off the list? Also was looking at new rear wheel bearings as i need these but im a bit confused as i can see the rear bearings on the site and then outer bearings?

any advice would be great

Dont upgrade the plugs mert as it seems to be pretty hit and miss with most people, just replace with exactly whats in already

You also need:

Air filter
HT Leads
Dizzy cap
Rotary Arm
PAS fluid change if it looks manky
Brake fluid change if it looks manky (should be changed every 2 years anyway)

I just did a fuel filter, and the hose clamps were press fit- use once- type things. So it may be an idea to get some replacments before you start, so as not to leave the car immobile!  Although this may not be an issue if your having someone do it who has a proper garage...
