Bored of standard lights, used red tinting to make all red rears and it didn't work well as in the end the indicator was just too dull by the time it was orange.

I was thinking of putting the indicators in the reverse lights but anyway.

Gone off all red rears a bit and inspired by Shady Pioneer & Kells rear lights I've set about doing my own.

Materials I will be using are:
-Golf MK3 GTI rear lights
-2-Pack clear scratch resistant laquer
-Gloss black paint also 2-pack
-400 grit paper
-Red scotchbrite

So yeah I'm cheating and using professional stuff.

So, starting with the lights:

These had a few imperfections:

I now took some 400 grit paper and went around all the edges, keying them all up. I rubbed out all the imperfections and found a fair bit of overspray which must have been from the previous car and a lazy arse sprayer.

Then took a block and went over all the light:

So as to not sand off the lettering, I will be red scotchbriting them. Then it's a case of masking the indicator in such a way that I can tint the indicator, pull off the tape after twn mins and lacquer the entire light a few times. If I play my cards right I can then flat and polish them for an immense shine.

That's as far as I got today.
