stuttering 16v
« on: 13 October 2010, 17:52 »
ive solved an idling issue on my 16v by changing the ISV but now when cruising or when i put my foot down there seems to be a stuttering affect, this also occurs on tick over where the car revs up and down slightly, do you think a new ecu and fuel pump relay will solve this? thanks

I'd try replacing cheaper parts first, like ECU relay, distributor cap and rotor, HT leads, spark plugs and coolant temp sensor. I have an ABF ECU for sale if you wish though

Did it happen immediately after you changed the ISV?

If so I'd quickly double check all the vac pipes to ensure they are all ok and pushed in securely and that the little vac pipe from the inlet manifold to the PCV (breather under a black box) hasn't been disturbed.

My friends 16v stuttered from 2-3k rpm and cleared, ECU relay no. 30 sorted that out.

To be honest, it wouldn't be a bad time to replace those relays if they haven't been done already

no mate, it was revving really high and low and ultimately cutting out before i changed the ISV, the range of up and down revs are now a lot less, i think i'll do the relays tomorrow, cheers

Where the throttle body is there are two plugs, one being the throttle position sensor and the other is the idle switch. The loom goes under the throttle body and behind the head, have a good look to check the wires arent burnt and broken.
