Rear fog light wiring problems

Hi all,

I took my mk3 gti in for a mot today and stupid enough i forgot to check the rear fog light out of all bulbs and guess what it did't work. Now i have the car back at home and trying to find out why it is not working. The funny thing is the bulb is fine but when i turn the rear fog light on the light on the dash dose't come on but if you put it in reverse it does come on. Any ideas/help would be much appricated.

mine works but when you slap the break on or put it in reverse the light on the dash comes.lol
think my boot is leaking,might be the same sort of thing dude??
