What's that on your car, Adam B?
« on: 27 January 2005, 10:58 »
Looking at the shots of Adam's car it looks as if you've got a built up front valance under the lights so they sit flush with the bodywork. Is this right? I've seen a couple of Mk2's with it and enquired about getting one for my '89 Clipper but I was told they only do them for the Mk2. I think it's a great idea to stop the metalwork taking a hammering from stone chips.

Can you let me know if that's what you've done and if so where did you get it.

Sorry for asking so many questions recently but it's only since I found this forum and getting real-world answers from proper VW owners that I've realise my previous sources of information have sometimes given me duff info. A thousand curses on them! :)

Hi Phil.
Do you mean the strip between the top of the bumper and the grill? or the valance under the front bumper?
The former is completly standard and is nothing more than the actual cars body work. The latter is a modified VR6 chin spoiler that I have adapted to clip on and off the bumper with zeus clips. Everything else about the bodywork, on the front end, is 100% Clipper kit.
Hope this helps a bit.

It's the strip under the grille and above the bumper. I could swear mine looks different.

I know you can get strips for the MK2 for this area so I thought you'd added one to your MK1.

The bottom of the main headlights on my grille aren't as flush with the bodywork anywhere near as yours are. Did VW mod the grille for different model years?
