Help: WHATS WRONG?
« on: 27 September 2010, 00:10 »
On my way out today i got about 1mile from home, normal driving and the car seemed fine. As i changed into 3rd gear my car lost power then just cut out. I stoped on the side of the road, turned my ingition off then restarted the car, car died again after about 20sec of sat on idle. Popped the bonet and using abit of a guess decided it was my MAF sensor, theory was that sensor has gone and my fuel pump is putting to much fuel in with to little air and causing the engine to cut out. Unpluged the MAF sensor and the car ran fine.

So is it as simple as getting a new MAF sensor or is there more to it?

Worth getting someone with VAG-COM to scan for fault codes? There is a VW specific garage near me called Vanworx, am sure they would have it there or atleast have a good idea of what the problem is.

Any other ideas guys, also if it is just the sensor how much would it be to replace? Thinking around £80-100?

Last thing i need right now

The Clio didn't as it's naturally aspirated and French
