for mk4 rears you need conversion hoses. for a bolt on fit use MK3 calipers, same in design just not alloy. the mk3 & mk4 calis have an improved handbrake mech which is less prone to siezing. mk4 calis are prone to the bleed nipples siezing in. very early mk3s used mk2 calipers though, easy to tell between em look for a handbrake lever spring. if it has one its a mk2 caliper, if not its mk3 (make sure it never had one, and its not just been pinched

)
either one you choose before you start unbolting stuff from a car in scrappy make sure the bleed nipple frees off ok, and the handbrake lever goes on and off without sticking. you only need the caliper you can use your old carriers, unless they're knackered too! MK4 carrier is no good, MK3 ones are the same as MK2. before you unbot the carrier check the slider pins move freely, pop them out and check for pitting and corrosion. if all looks well, pop em off. the allen bolts will probably fight you though.
