Central Locking problem
« on: 18 January 2005, 15:36 »
I have a Golf mk4 gti 1999 (5 drs) and I recently got a problem with the central locking system.
First my hand key distance lock/unlock is not working anymore ?? I tried to synchronize it as it stated in the manual but no success.
Second I used the key itself to lock and unlock, everething fine at that time Now I have the following problem:
- unlocking with the key: all the doors open
- locking with the key: only the driver door locks !!

Any tips to solve the problem

Have you tried replacing the battery in the key fob ?

As far as key-in-door locking goes, i think you have to turn it one direction, then the other.. not entirely sure I'll have a look in the manual when i get home.

I did not replaced the key battery. I have two of them and I cannot imagine that both key batteries go down at the same time

I had this exact problem.

Problem was using 2 different fobs at the same time would mess it all up. Put one of the fobs away and only use 1 of them at a time.

I take it both fobs now fail to lock and unlock the car? You will just have to use the central locking button on the drivers side door to lock all the doors for the time being, after a few days one of your fobs will just start working again for no reason. When it does just stick with that one.

Worked for me, no idea why and my other fob still won't work. Tried replacing the batteries, didn't help.
