I currently have the same problem with my 07 S3...trying to take it up with my local audi dealer as the car only has 28k....

Just had a quote for a cambelt change at VW Bury for £299 + price of waterpump if required (they examine it) which they said would be £40-50. Similar price I've had from local indi garages

Hey Emeye, I've not had a chance to take mine in yet. Have you got a sound clip of what yours sounds like? I'd be interested to see if its the same.

Mine isn't making too much noise, just feels/sounds a bit rattly - I'm replacing mine as a precaution as it is on 65k miles.

Looks like thats the best thing to do... shame really, I was hoping to use that money to pay for some mods to the car. Ah well, better to have a working car then a hot car I guess.

I feel your pain - mine also needs a service - and I've got a baby on the way. Thing is I hate to think how much a replacement engine would cost if it did go pop!  :shocked:
