Deisel Servicing
« on: 13 September 2010, 15:19 »
Just had my local VW give me a price of £230 for a full service which was basically oil drained and replace with longlife oil, and all the filters replaced.  What else do they do for my money?  I reckon I could buy all the stuff for a £100 and do it myself with the satisfaction of knowing it defo got done.  What you guys think, should I get all the gear myself and follow my trusty service schedule in my Haynes Manual?

Ideally yes but the only way i know it will get done is if i know i have done it myself tbh  Does anyone else generally service their own motor out there?

I was thinking longlife oil, what would you suggest putting in a Gt tdi 190?

VW Platinum oil which you buy off the shelf

I did the servicing on my own car over the last couple of years.

Did a service every 10K and changed:
Oil
Oil filter
Fuel filter

Parts cost no more than £60 all in from the dealer
