superchips or plug in box
« on: 08 September 2010, 13:18 »
hi all have had my golf mk4 130tdi for a week now and i was looking at buying a superchip or one of those plug in box's of ebob but dont know which type to buy as the prices go from £20 upwards. i had a simple plug in box on my passat i had a couple of years ago and seemed to work.
i cant afford a remap just yet but there prices are all different so im abit lost as to what to do. the car is standard and i was looking to keep it that way just want a bit more power with shouting about it, more steath.
2001 130 tdi.

Welcome

Save up and get a proper remap

The proper plug in boxes cost as much as a remap for the decent ones.  The cheaper ones are literally a resistor which fools the car into chucking in more fuel which will do your engine no favours

Only if it went in for work but being as the MK4 is well out of warranty any ECU updates you would be charged for and even under normal servicing the dealers wouldn't wipe the ECU

As far as I know there were no updates on the TDI ECU's  :undecided:
