New to the forum, looking to buy.
« on: 02 September 2010, 18:46 »
Hi everyone,

I have just joined the forum and thought I would introduce myself, my name is Will and I currently live in Leicester.

My current car is a Renault Clio 172 cup (see below), which I absolutely adore but I have a new job starting on Monday and so something more commuter friendly is needed for the 60 mile round trip each day.

I have owned a mk3 and mk4 golf in the past and have always loved golfs since I was very young and so after some time away I think it might be time to return to VW... more precisely a mk5 gti and if I can then hopefully an edition 30!!

I won't be buying for a couple of months but I want to get up to speed on the cars before I start seriously looking.

Any info on what to look out for when buying and what must have options I should be looking out for as well as potential problems?  Any must have mods would be good to know about as well.  When I move house I will be living just down the road from a company called r-tec ( http://www.r-techpower.co.uk/ ) and so may go and have a chat with them before and definatly after I buy  .

Thanks, Will

Hello and welcome, enjoy the banter. Can't be tempted into a MK2 then?

Jonathan.

Thanks for the warm welcome,  I would love a mk2 or mk1 gti, but it would have to be as a second/project/track car, but I may be keeping the Clio as a second car.

I want something a little more modern for the everyday car!  Went to have a quick look at a few edition 30's the other day and have become a little bit obsessed!
