Splash guard hanging off
« on: 16 August 2010, 08:29 »
Hi
just changed my wheels at the weekend and i noticed the splash guard covering the belts, drivers side is hanging on by one clip. There seems to be two studs which i presumed had nuts on before.
Anyone got any idea what size nuts i need, i need to fix this before it ends up on the side of the road.
cheers

They are held on with "clamping washers"

You can get them from VW for a few pence.

Cheers kells
I will give that a go.
After that I need to sort out the rattle.
I have been told it's either heat shield or new cat.

I've not had a problem with them, I suppose it depends what condition they are in. My undertray gets taken off at least once a month and its held on with the original clamping washers.

The rest off the car is held together with tie wraps though.

my guards came off; one on the M4 and one arround town.  Hell'va bang on the M4!

Poxy things - the "washers" really, though in a difficult environment.  My posts have rusted a bit and there you go.

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

So are the studs plain or threaded, just wondered if i could get some nuts on there.
Problem is, my local main stealers is about a 30 mile round trip.
