Mk2 16V 1987 - Digital dash
« on: 14 January 2005, 17:32 »
Hello,

Has anyone seen a digital dash on a 16V? I found an article on the net stating:

"...in February 1987, 16-valves were offered with nasty digital dashs -- but few were actually ordered"

I was just talking to an owner of a 1987 16V which has a digital dash, who's selling the car. I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little bit about that - or perhaps even show me a picture of such a dash?

"Nasty" is a matter of taste, and I think a digital dash might actually look good on a car like that, who knows... since few were actually ordered though, I'm wondering if it would be hard to get replacement parts for that - or do you think I could probably easily upgrade it to a different digital dash in the future, should anything go wrong with it (not looking to upgrade it unless something goes wrong, or unless it really is THAT nasty? )

So what do you think? Thanks for your time!

they were called 'digifiz'.  i think they are cool as, but are very rare. the ones that come up for sale tend to go for about ?500 if complete with all the senders, loom etc. i can't think of where to get a pic from but someone will have one some where! they look quite like vauxhall digital dashes, if you know what they look like?!
team grumpy....... its a way of life, not a forum post

These clocks are both dated and naff looking, but I'd still jump at the chance of having a set.
They are so naff they're super cool

They go for alot of money, so if the car is going for a good price it's probably worth buying

I just might get this MK-2 :) I don't mind the looks of the digital dash from the picture (found some others - like for example:

and also:

All in alll, it doesn't look half bad? - reminds me of back to the future's Delorean a bit?

I could probably get this MK-2 87 16V for around 2.2K (British Pounds), which is around 20,000 NIS (New Israeli Shekels). Not that car prices are in any way similar between Britain and Israel, but is 2.2K in your currency a bargain for such a car, in a reasonable condition (still haven't seen it, but the owner just replaced the engine, and the color is in very good shape - I still don't know the rest)?

Just wondering how much this car costs in Britain I guess, for comparison?

anywhere between ?500-?1000 for a fairly standard one depending on condition, later ones are more desirable  from 1990 onwards here in england, check out www.ebay.co.uk , there will be some for sale there
