company car
« on: 06 August 2010, 21:29 »
Hi mk5'ers I'm normally in the mk4 section but have just taken on a 08 mk5 estate company car, don't ask why but my company aren't into spending loads.  It is fairly basic has a TDI badge on the back I just wondered if you could give me more of an idea of what it is, it isn't a 2.0 as i've seen them and they have a differant spec.  also since my ownership it has got a little bit better in performance terms.  just wondered if there was anything i can do to increase its performace a little

Cheers

Well invariably a remap will be the most £/ fun effective upgrade. I don't know about SDI models but a TDI model would benefit quite healthily. Might be a good idea dropping R-Tech a pm to see what they can offer.

Of course it depends on what engine you have, which unfortunately I can't help with.

I always thought there was either a 1.9 TDI or a 2.0 TDI lump (discounting the SDI engines).

Sounds like a 1.9 TDI. Probably 100-130 bhp depending on which version it is.
Not low enough mk5
Not on the road enough mk3

I know that our company cars are in no way allowed to be tampered with which was expressed in a very stern email a few years ago so be careful about remapping.

This is why I opted out and got the GTI :D lol
