NCB and lack of...
« on: 02 August 2010, 21:02 »
Maybe an odd question, however living in london I never bothered with a car and so have not racked up any NCB. However I have been a member of streetcar (good selection of golfs ) for over 2 years... I dont suppose this would go towards helping reduce insurance quotes... £1800 for a MK5 GTI is a bit rich if you ask me

cheers

Does streetcar provide you with an annual insurance policy that you claim (or not) against? The fact that you have driving experience may help with some insurers but other than that - you don't have any no claims because you haven't had a policy to no claim against!

I pay a small monthly fee to cover me whenever I hire a car, though I am not provided with a insurance policy (actual document).

Should have mentioned I have driving experience 18yrs passed in 92.... just living in london never required a car till our little one arrived not long ago...

I can see the idea of buying a GTI slowly fading.... Gutted!

You shopped around for quotes? Even with zero no claims, that seems a lot o' money!

Would be parked outside our flat in east finchley (fairly nice area) and off from the main road.

Doesnt matter if its a main road or not, its still a public road. Ive had to boot the old mans BMW off the drive to make room for my MK5 as its only insured to be left overnight on the drive way.

As jv says, despite not having NCB you have 18years driving and thats sounds REALLY high. I had mine insured last year for just over £1k when I was 22 with 1NCB and living in Croydon, that was with Greenlight.

Mine isnt a million miles off what that quote is and thats now with a DR10 so I think you can find it for much cheaper than that.
