Touch screen Nav
« on: 09 July 2010, 14:42 »
Sorry guys if this should be in the ICE section but it is mkV model specific.

I am looking for an ED30 or normal GTI and might hold off untill i can find one with the touch screen Nav (is that rns510?). I had the old style Sat Nav in my 56 plate R32, did the touch sceen unit just replace the old one at some point or is it an optional upgrade. If it came in at a certain date does anyone know when.

I thought i cracked it looking through 100's of adverts. 07 plate cars had the style i used to have and 57 plate cars had touch screen. Then i came across 2 bloody 57's with the old style.

If i was to get Nav i would wait for the later touch screen when because that old slow nav in my R32 was pretty pants.

touchscreen was optional extra at £1500 or so. Hence why very few cars have them. Better to buy your dream car and get the satnav retrofitted. £500-700 for for satnav + antenna.

The recipient car would need to be coded to tell it that it has satnav fitted. Find someone who has vagcom/vcds near you!

as long as it not an early model, my 07MY has a factory RCD300 and I replaced it with an RNS510, with no coding at all. 3 years later, all is well.

If you ran vcds on it though, there will be errors though
